History of ANW

ANW is a non-profit organisation which is made up of hardworking and dedicated people from different disciplines.

The association was founded in 2017 when a group of members, led by Dr. Chizo Chukwujama, came together with a shared vision: to unite Nigerians residing in Wellington, fostering mutual support and contributing to the growth of their host community.

The purpose of the Association is to promote the well-being and success of Nigerians in the Wellington region, make a positive contribution to the community and showcase the beauty and diversity of Nigerian people and culture.

ANW is proud of her history of keeping members connected and offering a wide array of opportunities for service. With an active membership of over 120+ members on our WhatsApp group, the association serves as an important connection to the Nigerian Embassy in Canberra and to more than 3000+ Nigerians across Australia and New Zealand.

ANW provides an avenue to share the legacy, spirit and pride of Nigerian culture across the Tasman region. It is the vision of the association to continually strive to support our members and host community in general.

Pioneer members at the inaugural ANW Meeting are: Mr Dele Oluwole, Mrs Esther Dele-Oluwole, Mr Boniface Ushaka, Dr Ijeoma Ushaka, Dr Aniebietabasi Ackley, Dr Tammy Amasuomo, Mr Dehji Akran, Mama Franca Rutland, Mrs Ama Momoh, and Dr Kingsley Ihejirika.
